A few months ago I received The Nifty MiniDrive, my first Kickstarter backed project.
At first I wasn't sure what to expect, who are these people making this random product?, will it ever arrive?, Is it actually worth the money? It turns out I had nothing to be concerned about, the Nifty guys are great and the product is great.
The only problem is, now i'm slightly addicted to Kickstarter projects. Since backing my first project i've backed 3 more and I get tempted by more all the time.
Let's start with the most random one, Thermodo, a tiny thermometer for mobile devices. I know what you're thinking what do you need to know the temperature via for phone? Well, the truth is I don't really know, but I backed it anyway.

Well, it's certainly been a while since I blogged! Why has it been so long? that's a very good question! I decided to take a bit of a break from the "social internet" world and focus on real life, shocking I know. I've been known to take breaks from twitter in the past and I think its good just to step away from it every now and again.
I returned to twitter a few weeks ago and I meant to blog at the same time, but I never got around to it due to other commitments etc. But the good news is I'm back! People can stop moaning at me to blog now, yes @SelinaRealm I'm looking at you!
By the looks of things I have a lot of catching up to do! The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have both been announced and I've spent most of this week watching E3 to get an idea of what we're in for. Some of the footage looks great, Watchdogs looks pretty cool, and the new Metal Gear Solid looks pretty awesome as well.

I've already preordered my PS4 and a few games, I'm still undecided about the Xbox One, but I'm pretty sure I will end up getting one.....

When I got my Macbook Air, I knew that only having 256GBs of storage space would be difficult to manage at times. However the pros of solid state storage and lightweight portability outweighed the requirements for lots of storage.
I became much more tidy with my files, only keeping what I really need on my MacBook. If I want to play a game I uninstall it when I was finished, my YouTube videos are quickly moved to external storage and I don't store any music on my Macbook.
However there were times that I really wished I had a bit more space, I was seeing 1GB free more often that i'd like and I was looking around for a solution.

About a year ago I was reading a lot about a website called Kickstarter. At the time I didn't really pay much attention to it, until a few months ago, when I discovered how good it was. In short Kickstarter is a website that allows projects to be funded by individuals, It could be any creative ideas, games, films, products, books etc. Each project will set a goal for the amount of funding they require and how many days they have to raise that amount, if either of those are not met the project will not be funded.
Once the idea has been pitched users can back a project and donate to help get off the ground. There are often different levels of backers, for example if the project is a game, £20 will get you early access to the game, but £40 will get you early access plus an exclusive collectors edition.
It was through Kickstarter that I found the solution to my storage problems. The Nifty MiniDrive allows anyone to quickly and easily add more storage to there MacBook computer.

Whilst reading through various blogs today, i stumbled upon a game called Bombermine. For any fans of the popular game Bomberman you will recognise it straight away.
It's a browser based multiplayer game that you can play with up to 1000 other players.
Currently it's in beta, hence there's no sounds, but it looks like it has a lot of potential and is great fun to play.
Best of all its free!

With an iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and other battery powered devices I have too many gadgets to keep charged whilst out and about. I'm always on the look out for new backup battery solutions to keep my devices powered up on the go.
Recently I reviewed the Just Mobile Gum Plus backup battery. It's still the smallest battery with good capacity that I can find, however it does have one flaw, it can only charge once device at a time.
Time for the mophie juice pack powerstation duo to step up. Morphie has been producing backup batteries for a long time, for iPhone cases with a battery included to portable power station battery packs.

It's been another busy couple of weeks lately, i have a lot to catch up on.
There has been a lot of talk lately about when the next generation gaming consoles will be announced. Sony has made the first move and announced the PS4, everyone knew it was coming and expectations were high.
From what they showed during the event, the games look good, but nothing "outstanding". It's based on x86 architecture which means internally its pretty much a PC, whereas the PS3 is based on a bespoke cell infrastructure. Unfortunately this means the PS4 will not be backwards compatible with PS3 games, but we are pretty much used to that. Only the first batch of PS3 consoles could play PS2 games before they removed the feature to save money.
Sony spoke about new cloud based gaming which should allow you to play all previous playstation games on your PS4, however details on this were fairly limited.....
